These olive wood spindle blanks have defects in them. There is always going to be plenty of usable timber (for example pen blanks. pestles), but it is unlikely you will be able to turn a whole 80mm spindle from one of these blanks. Some have a large single crack, others have a few small checks in them. They're great if you want some smaller pieces of olive to go with some plainer timber, for finials or even for carving
They are offered at roughly 50% of the price of a "perfect" blank.
